No-one has given any opinions yet? I love to see jewellery from Ethiopia, the bracelets are gorgeous. I like particular the one on the right side, looking like two cords of different types are twisted and curled up. I wonder what Ingrid or Betty might say. Beautiful pieces anyway!
Lovely pieces, Lynn. My guess would be Northern Highlands, Wello region. They are quite common though not always is such a good shape or in silver alloy. You cleaned them beautifully - a joy to look at! Like Eya, I also prefer the version with the twisted rope. Can you wear them?
Thank you Eva and Peter and Betty. Yes Peter, I also especially favor large and heavy pieces!! Betty I am lucky and I can wear them, they are more comfortable small than they might be if larger since they fit so close to the wrist and don't move around.
I am quite partial to the twisted rope version as well, the only defect is that it has an excess of solder in places. Someday I may try to have the excess removed by a good jeweler.
While looking at your lovely new pieces, I also came across the Dessie bracelets again, and dug out the one I own. And- lo and behold! - it looks an almost perfect twin to one of yours:-). Here it is:
