Very interesting bracelet, never seen similar ones, but actually i can recognise iton the bride's wrists now that you mentionned the photo.
As you said it is crudely made and somehow newish or newly gilt. What is very interesting is that it is very similar in shape of one of the many bracelets made in colonial eara algeria (but out of silver) wich were bearing arabic inscrptions.
Here are two bracelets i found on ebay that dates back to colonial era and wich alternates on the smae way two different geometrical shapes (with the iscription added)

I have still to find a picture of the one that is much more similar
Thanks for the comments all. I am glad you also thought it interesting, Ayis. Despite the crude workmanship, I was intrigued by the design. This is the only one I have seen other than the photo in Sethom's book. She does not mention this type of bracelet in any of her text. I think Chantal's suggestion of a modified Tanit motif is very plausible. A friend saw me with this bracelet and mentioned seeing similar architectural motifs in nearby Sidi Bousaid, but I haven't yet identified the designs she is talking about. I need to find time to go over to Sidi Bousaid one day to look for buildings with this design.
