  • this looks a  lot like mine. The strange looking circular patterns with screws in the middle and the flat square glass, and the little tiny worm holes. Also, it has an extra set of triangles. Yours looks very clean, however, mine is very tarnished.
  • Thanks for showing, I was just learning about the difference of structure (making) of real and faux wormhole fibulae. This one looks really old and nice!
  • Patricia, when I saw your fibula it reminded me of mine so I thought I would post this. Mine has been cleaned and then coated with some kind of sealer and a pin back soldered on. Apparently someone wore it as a  western style pin recently.
  • I just cleaned mine and it looks a little better -- it is actually just like yours . Except for the pin -- I can't imagine pinning this to anything, it is so heavy and really kind of archaic looking -- what I mean is that it is more interesting from the standpoint of jewelry history than for jewelry wearing.
  • I agree. I have a collection of old fibulas displayed on the walls of my house and I love to look at them. But I would never wear anything so large and with such a sharp point on the end.
  • I wear fibulas quite a lot...... Have to be careful when hugging!!
  • I had so far missed this, Toya. Very useful photographs, and I actually think the piece looks pretty good!
