I really like this. I have never heard that expression. Where is this from?
Hi Linda: This is a popular style in Tunisia that goes back to the Ottoman period. The good antique "chichkhan" (gold and or silver set with lots of 'diamonds') were also made in red gold, sometimes with real gems. I do not think the pearls on this lady's necklace are real, but there is a range in quality and sometimes these necklaces have real pearls.
