‘Karanfilli gelin kolyesi’. Bridal necklace from Tavas (a small town, south of Denizli). With clove, glass pearls and small copper (imitation) coins. Rural, an inexpensive poor people's ornament, early 21th century. The clove is used because of its pleasant smell, which is symbolically transferred to the bride. Purchased in the 'çarşi' (old commercial district) of Tavas, in 2003. (Inv.n° bon010 - Kavak Folklor Ekibi & Costume Collection-Antwerpen/Belgium).
