Bridal headgear – Mudurnu / Turkey.

Traditional bridal headgear from Mudurnu (province of Bolu). Mid-20th century. The ‘yazma’ (headscarf) is adorned with ‘telkırma’: geometrical motives obtained by sticking narrow metallic strips (often silver) through the fabric and folding them; the motifs are identical on both sides of the fabric. The flowers diadem is made of 'iğne oyası': Turkish lace, made with the needle. (Kavak Folklor Ekibi & Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
