Good to see that this gem is in your personal collection. I wonder what the purpose is of the loops on top of the buckle.
I was not paying attention when I put it on the stand but those loops go opposite. Originally it would have had coins and a chain hanging from each of them like a fringe.
Hi, now I see it too, ofcourse! I just had a look in my little booklet on Azerbaijani jewelry and a similar belt is featured and that one has the coins hanging from those loops
I wear this quite a bit.. love it too.. I got it from an auction about 25 years ago.
