  • Dear Jean-Marie; This is a gorgeous belt! I have a similar piece in my collection but with a different, very large buckle. At the beginning, I was not sure whether the buckle on my belt was a later replacement but then I have seen almost an identical piece. The shape of your buckle can, however, be seen on a majority of these belts. I believe that I have posted a photo of my belt on EJ. Otherwise let me know and I will post it. A great display of the belt together with the costume. Your photos are a great education! With kind regards. Peter
  • Dear Peter,

Just to avoid misunderstandings: this buckle (and all the objects of this album that I made to-day) are not/were never mine (alas...).  They belong to the collections of the museum(s) mentioned.

I opened this album because a EJ-member stated/'complained' that Anatolian jewelry was so poorly documented (which is absolutely so).  Since I have pictures from Turkish museums (taken myself, or from a Dutch friend to whose pbase-site I cooperated), it seemed a good idea to post and share them.

    With kind regards, JM.
