Bakhtiari Parure

This is an unusually complete set of Bakhtiari ornaments from Iran. Including a pendant, plait ornaments, and a very long chain with sharp pins on the end which was worn as a dorsal ornament attached to the head scarf. Photos in the comments are of similar ornaments being worn.

  • Congratulations, Lynn. A very interesting and, as you wrote, complete collection of Bakhtiari ornaments... not often seen. Did you clean them yourself? I imagine that the two pieces that look like candlesticks are the plait ornaments. Were the plaits threaded through the tubes?
