  And yes, they are great to wear. The diameter is 6cm which is very comfortable for me to slip on.

  lovely bangles Betty. so solid looking. 6cm you must have such small hands and wrists.  You  are lucky because there are so many beautiful small sized bracelets in the ethnic world, especially from Africa. Gr. Ingrid

  A truly wonderful set, Betty. Congratulations! I find it interesting that Libyan hallmarks were usually placed on the outside surface of a piece, while most other North African hallmarks were on the inside.

  Those are very nice set of bangles. These have about  900 silver content which is very high. Typical traditional everyday wear. I see besides the Tripoli hall mark also part of  another mark which represents the 'amin', the person certifies the piece before it is being stamped by the Municipality of Tripoli .  Stamps could be on the inside or outside in Libyan silver. Very nice set indeed thanks for posting them Petty and I hope that you will enjoy wearing them.

  I would have never recognised them (from a rather bad picture) without having just browsed some pictures on this forum and seeing the bangles that Mustafa posted when he compared Libyan and Ethiopian bangles with Ingrid...  yes, I am lucky that I can wear them. 6cm are actually an ideal bangle size for me. With a hinged piece, a 5.5cm diameter is still fine, but anything less becomes uncomfortable :-)

  A good observation about the hallmarks, Preethi. Maybe we can ask Mustafa about it. Two of the bangles pictures are actually marked both inside and outside, but I also have a lovely Hauafer from Libya that is also stamped with a Tripoli hallmark on front. The mark itself, does of course look rather decorative...

  Betty, would you be interested in selling these bracelets? I was an elementary age child when we lived in Tripoli. I saved all my piasters and pounds so I could buy these silver bangles in the old city souk. I bought a total of 8 over 4 years and wore them all the time-just loved the weight and the sound. When I had children of my own, as my daughters apporched 12 years old I started to give them one braclet on their birthday. Over the years, what I loved to wear, were given away to my daughters who loved the bangles as much as I did. Now I have grand daughters but have no silver bangles to give them (their daughters swear they won't give their bangles away). I need to find more and I have looked on eBay, etsy, the Internet and have found your picture on Pinterest. My search has been long and time consuming.... Are you interested in selling? Where did you get the bangles? Can you help me make a third generation love the weight of these braclets and the silver sound on their arms? Thank you !
