A very likable item! I have never seen such an item before. Very interesting. How big is it ? And how was this attached to the horse?
This has clasps at the bottom through which the leather belt's of the horse's trappings must pass. Detailed images are available on my website wovensouls.com
Harald, It was not clear even to the jeweler that I acquired it from - who is an 80 year old expert in this field - whether this sits on the forehead or the tailhead of the horse. Maybe old photographs from books will eventually show us similar examples.
Yes, for me, it brings back an age when these sounds could be heard ... the clipclopping of horses hooves and the tinkling of bells to announce the presence of a visitor. A quieter place. No surrounding noise of the engines of motorcycles, buses, tuc-tucs.......
