  • Nice fibula, and so good to see one with the pin attached.

  • I bought this fibula  with its twin in Gabes, Tunisia in the early 1970s.

  • These are difficult to find in matching sets, so if you have another identical, you should not split them up.  Can you tell us the dimensions?  Many of these have another design on back.  I notice the number "8" on the knob which confirms that it was made in Tunisia.  Libyan ones also find their way into Tunisia but the marks are different.

  • Edith D, as a matter of fact I have the dimensions.   Each piece measures 5 inches from the top, center of the crescent to the bottom of the fibula; from its widest point, from side to side, it measures 5.25 inches, and it   is 1.5 inches wide at the top center. Also, it does have a different design on the backside. I am planning to sell these pieces.  Thank you so much for advising not to split them up.

  • museum piece. very rare. i agree with Edith :-)

  • Ait Ouakli I have had these since the early 1970s.  Thanks for the confirmation of their rarity.
