Some different Bulgarian jewelry offerings on ebay -- I am not recommending them, just including this one for discussion as we see very few examples in our searches. This one looks substantial and very clean. Perhaps Frankie or another of our Ottoman experts could give us some insight.

I don`t think it`s anywhere else here, Patti.
I`ve realised I`ve been confusing Miriam Milgram with Stefni Agin who, sadly, is deceased. I believe the former acquired some the latter`s folk items. My first knowledge about bulgarian jewellery was from Stefni Agin`s items a few years back, so I`m gad to have been reintroduced to some of them.
Thank you.
I don't know if anybody has added this website to our discussion so I will. Just drifting around the net looking up images of prochelnik and this is what I came across. Interesting for textile collectors as well.http://www.miriammilgram.com/archives/paftiround.htm
Well, Howah, at the risk of being sued for libel, I`m amazed that the police incident got as far as being reported. Lets just say that I could well believe that there are large numbers of such incidents that don`t. The word "kick-back" and the "hand-behind-the-back" gesture comes to mind.
Things must be looking up. But somehow I can`t help feeling a suspicion of ulterior motive involved. May be just my cynicism.
Legally Bulgaria will be under the same definition for antique as the EU. I`ve always thought of 100yrs old as a loose definition. But who knows what criterior the bulgarian police operate under? They operate generally like a mini-state of their own.
This Prochelnik is shapewise similar to the one that Frankie posted here that was from a postcard. Personally I think it's one of the better pieces to date from this particular seller. I am wondering if the green spots can be (easily) removed by ways of regular gentle cleaning?
I also read another interesting article about an owner of a bookstore in Bulgaria being caught by the police for secretly selling off valuable antique jewelry. I wonder what the age criteria for antique jewelry in Bulgaria is since there are sellers from Bulgaria active on ebay selling jewelry that should be at least a few decades old. This piece we are discussing looks like a piece with some ago to it.
Maybe you`ve already seen:

I had been trying to get the part on just the jewellery which was published some years back. But here it`s combined with costumes.
While I was searching around for Bulgarian antiques, I noticed this story -- from 2010 about Bulgarian jewelry smuggled into Canada in 2008 being returned to the Bulgarian people. Now here is an interesting thing to note ( you will think I am crazy, maybe I am) There are some very substantial pieces of what looks like valuable antique Bulgarian jewelry for sale on ebay -- and they are all from Canada. Probably no connection, but there seems to be connections between great Bulgarian antiques and Canada nevertheless.http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=121773
You`ve obviously been doing the same thing as I have, Patti. I noticed this because it contains some of the images I`ve already shown in my photos. There is also an online resource, which Howah very kindly pointed out to me. I`ve just bought the paperback of it from Amazon. I`ll give you the link anon.
These images do differ from the offerings online.
