An elaborate Kirdan necklace -- what do you think? Possibly Tunisian? Can you draw any conclusions as to quality from the pic. A very pretty, traditional piece for a very large price.

This item is very beautiful. It does not belong to me because the price is very high, just thought I would share it with you, seems very high quality and complex.
This is the south tunisian/Libyan style of the KIRDAN type necklaces, called shairiya and exported widely to central sahara populations!
The only way to know exactely is to look for halmmarks on the backs side, you will either find the Tripoli hallmarks in the form of a shield or no hallmarks and then it would mean it is tunisian! has a nice old fabric (LEATHER???) on which it is sewn!
Good find Patti
I feel it is a very nice piece and of good size and it
