I have had trouble finding authentic women's rings...I get the feeling that they wore a lot of very western-looking rings. I have seen mostly old men's rings. Frequently the coral here was traditionally left in a natural shape...branch coral and large chunks with holes for stringing. If you are looking for actual shaped pieces that are old, it may be difficult. Much of the shaped coral is new, frequently dyed Chinese stuff. I have found lots of nice old glass European beads here, I will post some of these soon so you can get an idea.
Thank you very much Edith for your reply. Yes, it is my first trip to Tunis. I am looking for old silver in general, in particular for beads and little pendants, so this sounds like the perfect place, especially if they sell by weight. I am also extremely interested in old rings. I wouldn't mind taking a look at new things inspired by traditional designs, though. Do you think it is possible to find old coral beads?
This depends on what you are looking for. However, if this is your first trip to Tunis and you want a firm footing, I can highly recommend Mr. Mnouchi and Son (Maison D'Orient, 23 Rue Souk al-Leffa) as being widely respected and honest. You need to have an idea about what you are looking for because they do not have any pieces out. It is one of those places with lots of dusty drawers, which customers are welcome to rummage. Their shop sells mostly beads and used silver scrap. But they are related to a bunch of other Mnouchies in the Souk and know where to get things upon request. Their prices are very reasonable. They only speak Arabic and French.

tunis changed a lot after the revolution. you will find for sure nice thinks and not expensive
you will find coral too, the price is high, old coral 50 % chanes to find for a nice price.try and ask in Maison d´Orient
