i find rouach's book very uninformative, and full of gross mistakes.
The only book worth having is "bijoux berberes au maroc", but only for the sheer number of pictures, for the information contained inside is quite inaccurate.
I remember having quickly red the one you are refering to, i think it stresses more on jewish tradition of making charms in morocco known elsewhere as Kabbalah. but is was long ago
